Check a customer’s EU VAT number
VIES answers, with the date — the proof a reverse-charge sale needs.
Tax centre → VAT number check. Type the number with its country prefix (DE123456789). Profflow asks the European Commission’s VIES register and shows whether it is valid, the registered name where VIES gives one, and the date of the answer. Every answer is stored, listed and exportable as your proof.
British numbers are not in VIES since 2021; check them at gov.uk. If a member state’s register is down, the answer says so — it is not a refusal.
