FIFO: the oldest batch first
Each sale uses the cost of the earliest batch still in stock.
With purchase orders recorded, a sale takes the cost of the oldest batch received on or before its date, and moves to the next batch when that one runs out. Without purchase orders, the cost in force on the day is used.
