Shopify in September 2026: the changes that touch your profit figures.

A new admin, a redesigned payouts page, multi-currency payouts in France, a change to how sessions are counted, and duty data in analytics. Which of this month’s releases change a number you report, and which only change how it looks.

Two hands meeting in a handshake

Shopify shipped more than a dozen changes this month. Most change where things are. A few change what a number means — and those are the ones to note before comparing September with August.

Changes a number

  • 21 September — session measurement in Analytics was changed to give a cleaner view of real shopper activity. Session counts, and every conversion rate built on them, may not compare directly across that date. Note it before reading September’s conversion rate against August’s.
  • 23 September — shipping and duty data in Analytics now refreshes more often and gives a more complete view of those costs. Useful now that low-value parcels entering the EU carry duty again.
  • 11 August — Managed Markets ended support for DDU; affected markets now collect duties at checkout. Duty becomes a line on the order rather than a surprise at the customer’s door.
  • 13 August — order tax is recalculated automatically when a shipping address changes, so an edited order no longer carries the tax of the address it was placed with.

Changes where money lands

  • 16 September — the Payouts page was redesigned into one view of every payout. Reconciling a payout against the orders inside it is the check that catches a fee nobody expected.
  • 11 September — multi-currency payouts expanded to France (18 currencies) and Australia. A French store selling in several currencies can be paid in them rather than converted on the way — which moves a conversion cost out of the payout.
  • 22 September — Shop Pay Installments became available across multiple business entities in supported regions.

Changes how it looks

  • 15 September — the admin was visually refreshed: new frame, colours, typography, spacing, icons and a collapsible navigation, with Sidekick floating. Nothing in the data moved.
  • 8 September — Meta joined the AI channels, with products shared through Shopify Catalog by default. Worth checking which products are shared before a channel starts selling them.
  • 10 September — checkout can collect WhatsApp marketing consent alongside email and SMS.

Every date above is the one in Shopify’s own changelog. Before comparing one period with the one before it, check whether a definition changed between them — a conversion rate that moved because sessions are counted differently is not a conversion rate that moved.
